I am a passionate developer whose most recent experience has been in front end web development. Currently, I am a web developer for Adams Publishing Group. I started doing maintenance and front end work for the Leader Telegram website. I also build & maintain smaller websites for internal purposes, as well as doing light tech support for their staff.
Before that I was the Senior Developer at Satellite Six. I built custom WordPress sites & lead the company’s development department.
In my 5 years of web development I have handled many responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Website front and back end development, including custom integrations and builds
- Participation in team & client meetings
- Bi-weekly development meetings with company management
- Work with sales to accurately quote delivery time for development projects
- Mentor new developers
- Coordinate development team growth with company management
- Ensure development hours are tracked accurately
- Research & Development of internal software tools and workflows
At Satellite Six, I built a custom starter theme that powered all the custom WordPress I built there. It was built on Foundation 5 then 6, included wp-advanced-search, and included various libraries such as Slick, AnimateCSS, and others. The theme made prototyping more rapid, sped up the process of building custom sites, and improved consistency between multiple developers.
I have learned, after building over 20+ custom designed websites, that front-end development is a crucial part every project. I started with only having a static design of the desktop version of a home page, and turned them into fully responsive pages, accessible from a wide array of devices. Through client, internal, and personal feedback I discovered that consistency, performance and accessibility are what sets great projects apart from the rest.
I started as an Entry Level Developer, the only employee, at a small creative digital marketing agency. In just three years I learned a lot, helped shape the company’s development department, and did some fantastic work that truly helped our clients. It was a great experience, and I am now looking forward to the next one.

My name is Darren, and I have lived in the Midwest my whole life. I enjoy all 4 seasons, and believe the shift between each reflects my personality and work ethic. I am always trying to learn new things, and seek constant improvement in my life. I’ve worked in retail, construction, many others, and now software development. Every industry has taught me something that helped in the next stage of my life.
I graduated in 2014 with a degree in Software Development, and maintained a 4.0 GPA. I received an amazing opportunity to work in a creative environment, writing code. My desire to get into programming came from a life of fascination with technology. This includes a range from building gaming computers to watching documentaries on algorithms that run many aspects of our lives.
Again, being in the Midwest my whole life has contributed to my hobbies as well. In the winter I love snowboarding, staying inside with a warm beverage & movie, or a good ol’ fashioned snowball fight. Spring and Fall is when I get out and skateboard, longboard, go hiking, or find a quiet place outside to meditate. During the summer I also enjoy biking, skating, and most outdoor activities.
